Lo stile di questi rilievi, piuttosto consunti, \u00e8 di carattere narrativo. Il racconto \u00e8 schematico ed efficace e comprende, oltre alle vittorie, le divinit\u00e0, un fregio con il trionfo dell\u2019imperatore, i soldati romani con i prigionieri e quattro pannelli che raffigurano le campagne di Settimio severo in Mesopotamia.<\/p><p>Probabilmente, le scene scolpite furono create, prendendo spunto dalle pitture che raccontavano i vari fatti della guerra. Le pitture venivano spedite al senato dalla Mesopotamia per preparare il trionfo.<\/p><p>L\u2019esterno dell\u2019arco di Settimio severo \u00e8 fortemente chiaroscurato ed \u00e8 rivestito in marmo. \u00c8 costruito in opera quadrata.
